The Cardinal Foundation exists to support the mission of Gadsden State Community College and provide opportunities for students.
The Cardinal Foundation is an approved IRS 501(c)(3) support organization established to raise, manage, distribute, and steward private resources to support the mission of
Gadsden State Community College. The Foundation is managed and controlled by its Board of Directors.
2017 Cardinal Foundation Scholarships and Recipients
Benjamin Steinberg Scholarship
Recipients of this award must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and accepted into the GSCC Registered Nursing Program. The recipient was recommended based on criteria and need.
Brandi is the daughter of Emma Jane Edwards. She graduated from Gadsden City High School and will graduate from Gadsden State in 2019. She is excited to be accepted to the nursing program at Gadsden State so that she can become an awesome nurse.
Gerald Acker Scholarships
Recipients of this award must have a minimum 2.75 GPA and enrolled in the Electrical Technologies program. The recipient intends to work in the electrical building or construction trades.
Jared is the son of Steve and Sandra Blackwell. He graduated from Sand Rock High school and will graduate from Gadsden State in 2018. Once Jared receives his degree at Jacksonville State University. Once he earns his bachelor’s degree, he plans to work in the electrical field and start a family.
Cole is the son of Dale and Tracy Beauchamp. He graduated from Albertville High School and will graduate from Gadsden State in 2018. His plans are to work for the Southern Company and he knows that receiving an Electrical Technologies degree will give him the step-up to the competition.
Rip Reagan Scholarship
Recipients of this award must have a minimum 2.2 GPA. The recipient was recommended based on audition performance and must participate in Show Band and A Capella Choir activities.
Victoria Danielle White
Victoria is the daughter of Chris and Darlene White. She graduated from White Plains High School in 2015. She is planning to attend Jacksonville State University after Gadsden State to pursue a degree in Music Education.
Jacob is the son of Melissa Stearns and Christopher Callahan. He graduated from Saks High school in 2015 and is now an ambassador for Gadsden State. He plans to go to Jacksonville State University to pursue a degree in Music Education.
IPC Aerospace Scholarship
Recipients of this award must have a minimum 3.5 GPA. The recipient was recommended based on criteria and need.
Anirban is from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He will graduate from Gadsden State with an associate degree and will transfer to Mississippi State University to major in computer engineering.
Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Scholarships
(Ayers) $500 each
Recipients of this award must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be a resident of Calhoun County and attend the Ayers or McClellan campuses.
She is pursuing a nursing major at Gadsden State Community College. She graduated from Weaver High School in 2013, where she was in the “VolunTeen” program at RMC for about three years. The “volunteen” program is designed for teenagers interested in healthcare. By the end of the program, she knew that I wanted to be a nurse.
Torren is the daughter of Shannon Wilson and mother of Camryn Powell. She attended Weaver High school and graduated in 2015. She is employed at Regional Medical Center and is also a substitute teacher. Her plan is to study nursing. After graduation, she plans to work in the medical field.
