Writers, photographers and artists with a connection to Gadsden State Community College are encouraged to submit their work to the Spring Writing and Art Contest.
Submissions will be accepted from past and present students, staff or faculty members. Winners will be published in the fall online issue of the Cardinal Arts Journal, in the annual print issue and on the Cardinal Arts Journal Facebook page. Winners will also be invited to read their work at the CAJ Breakout reading Spring 2017 and they are eligible for the Southern Literary Festival.
This semester’s contest theme is “Listen.” Submissions thematically or stylistically linked to “listen” will be considered in each of the following genres: short fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, photography and art.
Writers entering the short fiction, creative non-fiction and/or poetry categories can include up to three entries in one Word document. Each entry should be on a separate page with a short bio included. Please be sure there is no author-identifying information on the entries.
Artists and photographers can include up to three PDF files in one email submission. A brief bio in a separate Word document file should be included with submissions.
Electronic submissions must be dated no later than March 31. Submission title line should include last name, first name and genre (ex: Smith, Mary, Short Fiction)
