Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is a pre-college program designed to motivate and assist veterans in developing academic and other requisite skills necessary to successfully enroll in and complete a postsecondary education program.


Benefits, services, and materials are no cost to eligible veterans

Program eligibility is not limited to veterans planning to attend Gadsden State

Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum of 180 days active duty, or
  • If less than 180 days, discharge or release is due to  a service connected disability, or
  • A member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces called to active duty for a period of more than 30 days, or
  • A member of a reserve component of the Armed Forces who served on active duty in support of a contingency operation on or after September 11, 2001
  • All discharges qualify except dishonorable
  • All participants must be low-income (based on family income & number of dependents) or first generation college students (neither parent earned a 4-year degree)

Veterans Affairs

Through its Veterans Affairs Office, GSCC cooperates with the Veterans Administration and with students who receive V. A. benefits to ensure that the objectives of the V.
