Gadsden State Community College is opening the $30 million state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing and Workforce Skills Training Center, also known as the AMC.
The 50,000-square-foot facility provides a modern educational lab and training space for students pursuing certificates and Associate in Applied Science degrees in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Mechanical Design Technology, Electronics Engineering, Precision Machining and Welding Technology. The AMC will provide the next generation of students with cutting-edge technical training and the workforce development necessary for successful careers of the future.
The AMC is located where the Alabama School of Trades began in 1925. The AST was the first vocational college of its kind in the southeast and was eventually renamed Alabama Technical College until it merged with Gadsden State in 1985. For nearly 100 years, Alabama School of Trades, Alabama Technical College and Gadsden State Community College have been providing excellent education and training for thousands of students in the community. Gadsden State educates over 2,000 students a year for high-wage, high-demand jobs.
In honor and celebration of this rich history, the Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation is offering supporters an opportunity to show student support while being a last part of the AMC. Bricks from the former Alabama School of Trades buildings and wood from the oak trees that once lined the campus entrance will be engraved and included in the Legacy Wall, which will be prominently located in the AMC. It is a remarkable way to showcase support of the technical programs offered by Gadsden State while honoring the history of the AST.
Honor friends and family. Establish a memorial for a loved one. Show your business’s support of the programs that train future employees.
- Laser engraved bricks are $500.
- Laser engraved wood plaques are available for $1,000.
Every dollar raised through tax-deductible purchases will benefit student scholarships provided by the Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation.
