GSCC tech students sponsor coat drive
Gadsden, Ala. – Community supporters, faculty, staff and students of Gadsden State are encouraged to support area shelters and mission centers by donating new or mildly-used coats, jackets and hoodies for children and adults. The annual drive, sponsored by the Electrical Technology Department, will continue through Jan. 30, 2020. Items may be dropped off in Gadsden at Prater Hall on the Valley Street Campus; the Electrical Technology Building, Administration Building or GSCC Bookstore on the East Broad Campus and on the Wallace Drive Campus at the Maintenance Building or VUB Program at Beck Field House. Items may be dropped off in Anniston at the Ayers Campus Electrical Technology Building and at the main office of Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre. Spring Semester 2020 registration underway at Gadsden State
Gadsden, Ala.--Online registration at Gadsden State Community College for Spring Semester 2020 is underway and continues through Jan. 16 with classes beginning Jan. 10 for full spring semester and spring mini I term. Visit www.gadsdenstate.edu and click on the link to “ONEACCS” at the top of the page to begin the registration process. Veterans Upward Bound to host Open House, Tech Tuesday
Gadsden, Ala.— Gadsden State’s Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program will host open house events from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 14 at Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden and Jan. 15 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center in Anniston.
Tech Tuesday BYOD: Learn to use iPad/iPod Touch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 21 at Beck Field House and the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center. The workshop is free to eligible military veterans and will offer assistance in learning to use the latest technology devices. Please call 256-549-8204 to register.

Gadsden State to host Burn Treatment Seminar
Gadsden, Ala.—Gadsden State’s Continuing Education Department and Emergency Medical Services program is sponsoring an Emergency Burn Treatment Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 13, 2020, at the Cheaha Center Lecture Hall on the Ayers Campus and Jan. 14 at Browder Hall Auditorium on the Wallace Drive Campus.
The seminar will focus on current trends in burn management and feature guest speaker Lisa Smith, clinical educator from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center. Students and members of the community are invited to attend the free event. Continuing Education credits are available for nurses and EMS providers.

Gadsden State to host transfer scholarship workshops
Anniston/Gadsden, Ala.— Gadsden State Community College is hosting two Student Success Workshops beginning at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Pierce Cain Learning Resource Center on the Ayers Campus in Anniston and Jan. 15 in Meadows Library, Room 111 on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden. The workshops are designed to introduce students to details about scholarships available from multiple institutions and to demonstrate how to navigate the web to gain access to opportunities. The workshops are free and are sponsored by the Advisement Resource Center and Student Support Services. Snacks and drinks will be served. For more information, call 256-549-8655.
Electric Code Review Class at Gadsden State
Gadsden, Ala.—The Continuing Education Department at Gadsden State will offer a National Electric Code (NEC) Test Prep course Jan. 18 and 25. The NEC is the standard for ensuring that electrical systems are installed safely, and the course has been approved by the Alabama Electrical Contractors Board. The two-day session will meet from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the Electrical Building on the East Broad Campus in Gadsden. The registration fee of $225 covers both sessions. Pre-registration is required.

NCLEX Boot Camp at Gadsden State
Gadsden, Ala.—Gadsden State Community College is offering NCLEX Boot Camp to help students prepare for the NCLEX RN or PN exam. A required meeting will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 16. Additional meetings will be held each Thursday during the Spring 2020 semester but attendance is not required. The course will be customized to meet individual needs and include active-learning study sessions focusing on core nursing concepts. Gadsden State offers stress management for first responders
Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State’s Continuing Education Department is offering Stress Management for First Responders on two of its campuses in January. The first session will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 30 at the Pierce Cain Learning Resource Center on the Ayers Campus in Anniston. A second session will be Jan. 31 in Room 215 of the Joe Ford Center on the East Broad Campus in Gadsden. The seminar is free and 2.4 ABN continuing education units will be available for those attending. The focus of the seminar is to assist first responders in learning how to best cope with working in an environment filled with stress and trauma over the course of their career and the daily stress of helping people in crisis. Gadsden State study abroad in France 2020
Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State’s Fine Arts Department is hosting a 10-day trip to France as part of a study abroad program. Students may enroll in the accompanying ART 109 class for college credit. Limited space is available for those in the community who would like to go on the trip. The trip, scheduled for June 15-24, is $4,305 for those under 30 years old. Travelers who are 30 and over will pay $4,625 and receive a room upgrade. Pricing includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, bus and train transportation, regional cuisine, breakfast daily and local guided tours. Gadsden State music scholarships available
Gadsden, Ala.—Gadsden State’s Division of Fine Arts has music scholarships available with the Show Band for the spring semester.
