Gadsden State Priority Registration for Summer begins March 18

Priority Online Registration at Gadsden State Community College for the 2020 summer terms begins at 8 a.m. March 18.  Currently-enrolled students who have completed 24 semester hours at Gadsden State, and have a 2.0 GPA or higher qualify for priority registration. All other registration begins at 8 a.m. March 19 and continues through July 6.  The Summer I term begins May 8; Full Summer and Summer II terms begins May 28 and the Summer III term begins July 2.  Visit www.gadsdenstate.edu and click on the link to “ONEACCS” at the top of the page to begin the registration process. Gadsden State to host Employment Fair March 10

 

The Office of Career Services at Gadsden State Community College will host an employment fair for  health sciences and technical majors from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 10 at Beck Conference Center on the Wallace Drive Campus. Employers and representatives of hospitals, health and rehab centers, nursing homes, area companies and colleges and universities will be in attendance at the fair.  The event is free and open to all technical education majors, health sciences majors, students, alumni and the general public. Please dress professionally and bring several copies of your résumé. Recruiters or employers interested in registering for the event should contact Career Services at careerservices@gadsdenstate.edu or Pamela Brady at 256-549-8605.

Veterans Upward Bound offers Tech Tuesday 

 

Gadsden, Ala.—Gadsden State’s Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program will host Tech Tuesday BYOD: Learn to use iPad/iPod Touch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 10 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center and Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus.  The workshop will offer assistance in learning to use the latest technology devices.

DMS Program to hold informational meetings

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Gadsden State will hold mandatory informational meetings at 9 a.m. March 13 and 5:15 p.m. April 13.  Both meetings will be held in Prater Hall-DMS Room 1 on the Valley Street Campus in Gadsden. Those interested must complete all prerequisites and attend one of the mandatory meetings.  Please visit the DMS page on Gadsden State’s website at https://www.gadsdenstate.edu/programs-of-study/diagnostic-medical-sonography.cms and click the REGISTER HERE link.  Upon completion of the program, students will receive an Associate in Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Gadsden State to host Preview Days 2020

 

Gadsden, Ala. – Prospective students of all ages are invited to attend one of two upcoming Preview Days at Gadsden State Community College. The events will be from 9 a.m. to noon March 17 in the Cheaha Center Auditorium at the Ayers Campus in Anniston and March 18 in the Beck Conference Center on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden.

Gadsden State Alumni Association, Walnut Gallery team up for free event

Gadsden State offers ACT test prep

 

Gadsden State’s Continuing Education Division is offering an ACT Prep course series now through December.  The prep courses are scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday in May, June, September and November. Saturday test prep dates are scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28, June 6, July 11, Oct 17 and December 5.  Classes will meet in Room 115 of the Joe Ford Center on Gadsden State’s East Broad Campus. The cost is $150 for the 4-day course and $100 for the one-day course. Test prep books are provided for use in the class. Students may purchase the book for an additional cost of $35. Gadsden State Alumni Association Scholarships available

The Gadsden State Community College Alumni Association is offering $1,500 scholarships to two currently-enrolled Gadsden State students. The scholarships can be applied toward tuition, fees and books for the 2020-21 academic terms at Gadsden State.  The scholarship criteria and application can be located at www.gadsdenstate.edu/alumni/alumni-association.cms. All applications must be submitted or postmarked by 4:30 p.m. March 31.   The scholarships will be awarded at the Gadsden State Honors Day program April 20. Cardinal Foundation to host Swoop Sprint 5k

The Cardinal Foundation is hosting Swoop Sprint, a 5k run, at 9 a.m. April 11 to benefit student scholarships at Gadsden State Community College.  The Swoop Sprint 5k is a course registered in the GRC Grand Prix Series. Cash prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 overall male and female participants for first place ($100), second place ($50) and third place ($25).  The best male and female who embodies the “Swoopiest Spirited” sprinter will each receive a $25 cash prize.  Winners must be present to receive their awards.  Preregistration is $25 and members of the Gadsden Runners Club, Anniston Runners Club and Gadsden State students, faculty or staff receive a $5 discount. Registration includes an electronic chipped timing bib, goody bag, pre-race snacks and finish line food.
