Gadsden State Continuing Education Program offers courses
Gadsden, Ala. – Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering three classes this fall – driver’s education, ACT test prep and photography classes.
“While offering the in-person courses, we will follow all guidelines in place to help curb the spread of the coronavirus,” said Pam Clough, director of Continuing Education. “This includes wearing a mask, practicing social distancing as much as possible, completing a wellness questionnaire, getting temperature checks and signing a waiver. We want to be able to provide wonderful educational opportunities safely.”
Valerie Roberts, a Gadsden State tutoring coordinator, is conducting four sessions to prepare students for the ACT test. Students can participate in the Cardinal Tutoring Center on Gadsden State’s Wallace Drive Campus or via ZOOM. Saturday morning sessions are offered from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 17 and Dec. 5. Evening sessions are offered from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 20 and 22 and Dec. 1 and 3. Students can register for the session(s) of their choice. Registration cost is $99 for four hours of instruction. Once a student registers, a confirmation email will be sent containing instructions, items needed for the class and a link to the online session(s), if applicable.
Driver’s education classes will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 24 and 31 and Nov. 7 and 14 at the Joe Ford Center on the East Broad Campus. Students must attend all four classes in a session to receive credit from instructor, Greg Hall. The class size is limited to 12 students. The course is $175 and pre-registration is required. During driver’s education, students will drive three at a time while others remain in the classroom during the non-skills portion of the class. While driving, gloves and masks are required, and windows will be rolled down, weather permitting.
Two photography workshops are being offered by instructor Kenneth Smith Jr. Both workshops will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with the first session being held Nov. 10 and 17 in Room 115 at the Ford Center. A second workshop will meet Nov. 12 and 19 at Gadsden State Cherokee. Cost is $60 per workshop.
