Random COVID testing begins Oct. 6

The COVID-19 sentinel testing for a random selection of students and employees will begin Oct. 6. It previously was slated to begin Sept. 30. In addition to the date change, other information – including the process for participating in the random testing – has also changed.

Before you can be randomly selected to participate in this all-important sentinel testing, you must first sign-up. Here’s how:

  • Go to healthy.verily.com today
  • Create an account using your Gadsden State email
  • Confirm your account via email
  • Check your Gadsden State email frequently for testing information
  • Schedule a test appointment if you are randomly selected.

Beginning Oct. 6 and until further notice, Gadsden State will conduct testing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Emergency Response Building (formerly the Aquaculture Center) on the Wallace Drive Campus. Only those who have been contacted by Verily and completed the pre-test screening will be allowed to take the self-administered COVID-19 test.

Sentinel testing involves testing a random sample of Gadsden State’s population to help monitor the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community. Each week, at least 3 percent of the on-campus population will be invited to participate in the COVID-19 testing. As a reminder, you are strongly encouraged – but not required – to participate in the testing. There will be no penalty for those who choose to opt out.
