Gadsden State to host informational session about FAME program
Anniston, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College is hosting a FAME informational session at 6 p.m. Feb. 18. The event will be in person at the Advanced Manufacturing Center Auditorium on the Ayers Campus and streamed on Facebook Live via the East Alabama FAME page at https://www.facebook.com/GSCCFAME. FAME-- Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education—is a partnership between Gadsden State and East AlabamaWorks. The apprentice-style training program leads to an Associate in Science in Industrial Automation Technology after five semesters of instruction that support advanced manufacturing technology. Spring Mini Term II registration continues at Gadsden State
Gadsden, Ala.--Online registration continues at Gadsden State Community College for Spring Mini Term II through March 5 with classes beginning March 4. Gadsden State is reintroducing the Cardinal Promise Scholarship for this term in an effort to increase affordability of for-credit academic and technical courses. The purpose of the “buy-one, get-one” option is to assist students who may be facing financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scholarship allows eligible students to purchase up to nine paid hours while receiving an equivalent number of credit hours tuition-free.

Gadsden State Continuing Education to offer CPR Training
Gadsden, Ala. – Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering CPR training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 19 and March 5 for anyone interested in learning the life-saving technique. The training sessions will be held at Jarvis Hall on the East Broad Campus. Cost is $60.
“While offering the in-person course, we will follow all guidelines in place to help curb the spread of the coronavirus,” said Pam Clough, director of Continuing Education. “This includes wearing a mask, practicing social distancing as much as possible, completing a wellness questionnaire, getting temperature checks and signing a waiver. We want to be able to provide wonderful educational opportunities safely.”

Gadsden State offering Drivers Education courses
Gadsden, Ala. – Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering spring and summer sessions of driver’s education classes on three of its campuses. All sessions are from 8 a.m. to noon. Students must attend all four classes in a session to receive credit for the course. The session dates and campus locations are as follows:
Spring Session — Feb. 27, March 6, 13 and 20 in Room 115 in Joe Ford Center on Gadsden’s East Broad Campus
Summer Sessions — Week of June 7 in Joe Ford Center on Gadsden’s East Broad Campus
Week of June 14 at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre
Week of June 21 on the Ayers Campus in Anniston
Week of July 12 in Joe Ford Center on Gadsden’s East Broad Campus
Week of July 19 at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre.
The class size is limited to 12 students. The course is $175 and pre-registration is required. Guidelines will be in place while driving masks and gloves are required. Participants must complete a wellness questionnaire, get their temperature checked and sign a waiver.

ACT Prep courses offered for spring and summer
Gadsden, Ala. – Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering four sessions of ACT Prep Courses. Students can participate in the Cardinal Tutoring Center on Gadsden State’s Wallace Drive Campus or via ZOOM. Guidelines are in place to help curb the spread of the coronavirus during the in-person classes. Guidelines include wearing a mask, practicing social distancing as much as possible, completing a wellness questionnaire, getting temperature checks and signing a waiver.
Saturday morning sessions are offered from 8 a.m. to noon April 10 and June 5. Evening sessions are offered from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 6 and 8 and June 1 and 3. Students can register for the session(s) of their choice. Registration cost is $99 for four hours of instruction. Once a student registers, a confirmation email will be sent containing instructions, items needed for the class and a link to the online session(s), if applicable.

Gadsden State Continuing Ed to offer Pilates class
Gadsden, Ala.-- Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Program is offering a 10-week Pilates course from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. each Thursday beginning March 4. Beginner, intermediate and advanced modifications will be offered throughout each class to make the workout suitable for all fitness levels. Course objectives include improving flexibility, increasing muscle strength and toning the entire body with particular focus on the core. Participants may attend virtually via Zoom or in person. Once payment is received all participants will be contacted with a Zoom link or location information. Cost is $120.00 for 10 weeks and class size is limited.
