Gadsden State offers free manufacturing classes

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College’s Adult Education Services is offering free classes for anyone interested in acquiring a nationally-recognized credential as a certified production technician through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council.

The final student orientation and registration for the current semester is now through Thursday, Sept. 16. Classes will begin Sept. 20. Morning and evening classes will meet at Ralls Hall on the East Broad Campus.

The CPT certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled production workers in all sectors of manufacturing. Students must pass a certification assessment covering quality practices and measurement, manufacturing processes and production, safety and maintenance awareness.

MSSC, an industry-led 501(c)3 non-profit, is America's leader in training and certifying foundational technical competencies for front-line technicians for in-demand, higher-wage, higher-skill jobs in advanced manufacturing and supply chain logistics. Technicians with MSSC certifications are qualified for 11.3 million jobs in front-line production, material handling and distribution.

All books, materials, registration fees and certification fees are fully funded by a Gadsden State Community College Adult Education Services grant.
