Women’s basketball, baseball teams to host tryout opportunities

Gadsden, Ala. – Gadsden State Community College is hosting two opportunities on May 31 for student-athletes to showcase their talents in basketball or baseball.

Athletic Director Blake Lewis, who also serves as the head coach of the baseball team, said Gadsden State is hosting a Baseball Showcase at 3 p.m. May 31 at Gadsden City High School.

“We have invited other community college coaches and recruiters from our state to come to Gadsden to check out some of the talent from our area high schools,” he said. “We have also invited coaches and recruiters from some neighboring universities.”

The Showcase is open to 2023 high school graduates as well as those who graduate in 2024. The cost to participate is $40 per person, which must be paid in cash the day of the event. Personal checks will not be accepted. A valid physical form must be submitted at the Showcase as well. Pre-registration is required by May 30.

Gadsden State is also hosting tryouts for walk-ons interested in playing on the Lady Cardinals Basketball Team. Tryouts will be at 6 p.m. May 31 at Beck Gymnasium on the Wallace Drive Campus.
