Continuing Education Offering Free Workshop

Gadsden, Ala.—Gadsden State’s Continuing Education and Walnut Gallery are partnering to offer “Serving One Another,” a free six-week workshop conducted by Parker Hunt. Workshop sessions will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 2, 9, 16 and March 2, 9, 16 in Room 104 at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center on the Wallace Drive Campus. Each week participants will create the parts to assemble a functional clay teapot that will be used to serve one another at the conclusion of the sessions.  Class size is limited.  For more information or to register call 256-549-8462 or email pclough@gadsdenstate.edu. 

Health Sciences Employment Fair Feb. 12

Gadsden, Ala.—The Office of Career Services at Gadsden State Community College will host a Health Sciences Employment Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 12 at Helderman Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. Employers and representatives of hospitals, health and rehab centers, colleges and universities and nursing homes will be attendance. The event is free and open to all health science majors, students, alumni and the general public. Please dress professionally and bring several copies of your résumé. Recruiters or employers interested in registering for the event should contact Career Services at careerservices@gadsdenstate.edu or 256-549-8605.

 

Veterans Upward Bound Workshops at Gadsden State  

Gadsden. Ala.—The Veterans Upward Bound program will host Tech Tuesday BYOD: Learn to use iPad/iPod Touch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center and Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus. The workshop will offer assistance in learning to use the latest technology devices.  A financial literacy workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 19 at Beck Field House.  The workshop will provide assistance in developing effective ways of budgeting, spending and taking control of finances.  Both workshops are free to eligible military veterans.  Please RSVP to 256-549-8204 to register.

DMS Program to Hold Informational Meetings

Gadsden, Ala.—Gadsden State’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program will hold three mandatory informational meetings this semester for anyone interested in enrolling in the program for Fall 2019.   Please visit the DMS page on Gadsden State’s website at http://www.gadsdenstate.edu/health/diagnostic-medical-sonography and click the REGISTER NOW link to select one of the meetings to be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 12, 5:30 p.m. March 13 and 10 a.m. April 17 in Room 210 at the Joe Ford Center on the East Broad Campus.  Upon completion of the program, students will receive an Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Graduates can work as a diagnostic medical sonographer responsible for providing patient services by using medical ultrasound equipment that captures images used by physicians to diagnose a variety of conditions.
 

Gadsden State Music Department Scholarships Available

Gadsden, Ala.—The Gadsden State Community College Music Department will hold auditions for Show Band, Gadsden State Singers and A Cappella Choir Feb. 14, 28 and March 14.  Full- or half-tuition scholarships for Fall Semester 2019 are available to Alabama residents and are awarded upon a successful audition. The Show Band, Singers and Choir perform an average of 50 performances throughout the year and rehearsals are held 4 days each week.

The Music Department offers a variety of music and vocal courses, including applied lessons.  Students do not have to be music majors to be awarded a scholarship.  Talented and dedicated students are encouraged to audition. Spring Mini II Registration Underway at Gadsden State

Gadsden, Ala.--Registration for the Spring Mini II term is underway through March 6 at Gadsden State Community College.  The first day of class is March 5.  Visit www.gadsdenstate.edu and click on the link to “myGadsdenState” at the top of the page to begin the registration process or click “APPLY NOW” to be admitted.
