Positive COVID-19 cases reported

Gadsden State has received notice that two employees have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently quarantined and receiving medical treatment in accordance with public health protocols. The employees both reported positive COVID-19 results on July 7. One employee is based on the East Broad Campus while the second employee works on both the East Broad and Ayers campuses. In addition, two students have tested positive for the virus -- one on the Ayers Campus (reported July 2) and one on the East Broad Campus (reported July 8). Both are quarantined. Out of an abundance of caution and in our efforts to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we are notifying anyone who has come into close contact with the employee or the student and asking them to self-quarantine for the amount of time as recommended by their healthcare provider.

Health and safety remain our No. 1 priority. Gadsden State is following medical protocols from state and national health authorities and has implemented recommended guidelines in relation to social distancing, hygiene, travel and visits to the College. In addition, we are taking additional steps to attempt to ensure the cleanliness of all our facilities. While we hope and pray this will be the only positive test for COVID-19 within our college community, in the event there are others of which we become aware, we will use our best efforts to notify those we are able to determine have had contact with that individual so they may take recommended health measures.
