Accreditation commission to visit Gadsden State’s nursing program

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College’s Nursing Program is hosting a site review for the continuing accreditation of its associate degree for registered nursing by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing Sept. 21-23.

According to ACEN, accreditation indicates to the general public and to the educational community that a nursing program has clear and appropriate educational objectives and is working to achieve these objectives. Emphasis is placed upon the total nursing program and its compliance with established standards and criteria in the context of its mission as well as current and future nursing practice.

In addition to a self-study report, the evaluators will review comments from others regarding the nursing program. Comments can be shared with the site visit team during a meeting scheduled at 4 p.m. Sept. 22 in the Helderman Hall Lecture Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus.

Written comments can be submitted to Dr. Marsal Stoll, CEO, by mailing them to ACEN, 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30326 or email mstoll@acenursing.org

All written comments should be received by ACEN no later than Sept. 7.
