Scholarships available for musicians, vocalists and actors
Gadsden, Ala. — The Gadsden State Fine Arts Department is holding auditions for three of its performance groups. Full- and half-scholarships will be awarded for members of the Show Band, A Cappella Choir and Theatre Program upon successful auditions.
To be considered, those auditioning must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Alabama. Students do not have to be music or theatre majors to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarships begin for the fall semester.
The Gadsden State Show Band auditions will be March 14, 16, 28 and 30. Those who audition should be prepared to perform at least two different pieces showcasing their musical abilities. The Gadsden State Singers and A Cappella Choir is currently scheduling auditions for the 2023-24 groups. Singers will perform two songs of contrasting styles and genres. To schedule an audition, contact J.T. Harrell, choral director, at 256-549-8391 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Gadsden State Theatre Department requires students to perform two contrasting monologues approximately one minute in length during the audition. Students do not have to major in theatre but they are required to enroll in a theatre course each semester.
