Gadsden State to hire students for Summer Work Program

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College has received funding from the Alabama Department of Human Resources to employ 10 area students this summer.

The Summer Work Program will include two positions in the College’s Finance Department; two positions in the Maintenance Department; and six positions in Student Services.

The program will begin May 1 and end Aug. 31. Students will be paid $12 an hour for 19 hours per week. Eligible participants must be ages 16 to 24 and have a household income that meets the 2023 Federal Poverty Guidelines, which considers gross annual income and the size of the family unit.

Duties for those working in Finance include general office work, filing, answering phones and shredding documents. Maintenance employees will clean windows; sweep, mop and wax floors; dust; pick up trash; paint; move furniture; assist with carpentry tasks and pressure wash. Those working in Student Services will greet campus visitors; file and shred documents; perform clerical work; and maintain inventory.
