$2 tuition increase, new textbook program announced

Institutions within the Alabama Community College System will incur a $2 per credit hour tuition increase beginning Fall 2023. The increase brings the tuition at Gadsden State Community College to $168 per credit hour, which is still considerably less when compared to other tuition and fees at Alabama universities.

Also, this Fall Semester, Gadsden State is introducing a new program that will give students access to all of their course materials. The new program, First Day Complete, is facilitated by Barnes and Noble, Gadsden State’s textbook and course materials vendor. Students could save up to 50 percent on course materials.

Students who are eligible for the program will be charged $24 per credit hour to receive all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions. Payments from grants, scholarships and other financial aid may be applied to First Day Complete charges. Students enrolled in Career Technical Programs, music courses and some Health Science programs are excluded from the program.

The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused, such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, engineering kits or nursing kits.
