Gadsden State to host free community events in October
Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College is hosting several free events this month for students, community members, faculty and staff at four campus locations.
“Our free events this month are a great opportunity for families to come to our campuses and have some fun,” said Lynn Patterson, director of Student Activities. “We are excited to have events on four of our campuses.”
Gadsden State Cherokee will host two events during the month. Movie on the Lawn is at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 and will feature a showing of “Hubie Halloween.” It will be on the lawn of the Administration Building. Everyone is encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
The Cherokee County Department of Human Resources and Gadsden State Cherokee will co-host Trunk or Treat from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27. The event will include candy, games, activities and a photo opportunity with Swoop, the Cardinal mascot. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes. Gadsden State Cherokee is located at 801 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.
The Valley Street Campus will host Time Out, a fall tailgate event from 10:30 am to 12:30 p.m. Oct.18 in the parking lot of the HVAC and CNA building. The event will feature the Gadsden State Show Band, Litchfield Middle School Drumline, food, fun and student engagement. The Valley Street Campus is located at 600 Valley St. in Gadsden.
Candy with the Cardinals will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 on the Wallace Drive Campus Quad located at 1001 George Wallace Dr. in Gadsden. The event will feature games. face painting, popcorn and drink stands, balloon animals and coloring sheets. Attendees can meet and take photos with Gadsden State athletes, and the Gadsden State Show Band will perform. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes. The Cardinal Foundation, Gadsden State Alumni Association and other College organizations will participate by providing activities and candy.
Gadsden State’s Ayers Campus is also hosting Candy with the Cardinals from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 24. The event will include Trunk or Treat with games, activities, face painting, drinks and frozen treats. The event is free and open to the public. It will be held on the Ayers Campus located at 1801 Coleman Road in Anniston.
