Gadsden State Skills Training Division to offer free training for women

Gadsden, Ala. – The Skills Training Division at Gadsden State Community College is partnering with the Women’s Foundation of Alabama to provide Women in Welding, free training for qualified participants.

“Gadsden State’s Skills Training Division is proud to be a community grantee partner with the Women’s Foundation of Alabama to offer this free program to accelerate economic opportunities for women in our service area who are interested in a career in welding,” said Baisha Woody, director of Skills Training.  

The projected class date is March 4 through May 24. The scholarship application deadline is Jan. 16.* All tuition, fees, books and supplies are covered by the scholarship for qualified participants.

A required orientation is scheduled for Feb. 26 and classes will meet each week from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Interested female applicants who wish to apply for the scholarship must submit an application and meet all eligibility requirements.  

Participants who are accepted for the program will be required to attend all class/meeting sessions and all mandatory workshops and individual career and counseling sessions.  Employment and certification testing is required upon completion of the training course.
