Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation awards scholarships
Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College’s Cardinal Foundation hosted a luncheon Thursday to honor scholarship donors and winners.
“You had a lot of other institutions you could have attended,” said Dr. Kathy Murphy, Gadsden State’s president. “Thank you for choosing Gadsden State.”
She was also complimentary of the many donors attending the luncheon.
“Thank you for giving your resources to help others on their academic journey,” she said. “You are investing in the lives of other people. You are to be commended.”
Ted Turgeon, a Gadsden State graduate now working as an investment advisor, was the keynote speaker. He told of his journey from uncertainty to college graduate to successful businessman.
“Gadsden State was a major road to where I am now,” he said. “I can’t even begin to give back to Gadsden State what they have given me. They gave me a better life.
“Degrees and certificates don’t make us better than anyone else but, they do make us better than we were before.”
